Dear Family Planning Champion,

According to the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees, over 117 million people were displaced at the end of 2023 worldwide due to conflict, human rights violations, natural disasters, and persecution. From 2005 to 2014, 40 percent of the world’s natural disasters occurred in the Asia Pacific region.

Humanitarian crises disrupt basic services making it difficult if not impossible for people to access basic care, including sexual and reproductive health services. Contraceptive stockouts are common, limiting people’s choices of contraceptive methods. This leads to undesirable contraceptive discontinuation, irregular usage that impacts effectiveness, or switching methods. Shortages of doctors and nurses make providing routine and emergency care challenging.

Join Knowledge SUCCESS for a discussion with organizations who provide sexual and reproductive health services in humanitarian settings in the Asia region. Participants will gain insights into what humanitarian responses mean in different contexts as well as best practices and lessons learned in implementation.
